About the workshop:

In this executive session, participants collaboratively address a range of organizational design challenges, including team and departmental structures, human resources norms and policies (such as career paths, promotions, and compensation), site strategies, budgeting and finance processes, and overall organizational agility and adaptiveness.

Attendees should be prepared to examine widely held operating models and traditional mental models of organizational dynamics. While the workshop does not seek to undermine existing practices, it does introduce alternative perspectives and approaches that may lead to meaningful improvements in how the organization functions and evolves.

Audience:

This workshop is designed for:

  • Senior executives from both technology (e.g., CTO, CIO) and business domains (e.g., Heads of Lines of Business)
  • Senior Human Resources leaders
  • Learning & Development professionals responsible for enterprise-wide education and capability building

Note: The hybrid mix of participants is intentional to foster effective collaboration and a shared understanding among influential leaders representing diverse organizational domains.

What will you learn?

Participants in this workshop will explore and gain insight into key organizational design questions, including:

  • Why certain organizational design decisions should not be delegated solely to middle management
  • What systemic root causes contribute to the failure of many agile transformations
  • Common transformation trends that may be superficial or misleading (e.g., superficial “scaling” or pseudo-“productization”)
  • Which organizational elements can and should be addressed immediately, and which are better approached more gradually
  • How to implement deep and focused organizational design changes without creating structural confusion or parallel organizations
  • Effective strategies for selecting internal candidates to lead improvement efforts while minimizing fear, jealousy, or hostility

This content is designed to provide executives with both actionable insight and strategic frameworks for responsible, adaptive change.

How will this workshop be conducted:

The workshop is structured as a series of alternating divergence and convergence sessions. Participants work in small groups during divergence phases to explore issues broadly, and then come together as a large group during convergence phases to integrate insights and build shared understanding.

Key organizational design challenges, assumptions, goals, and beliefs are translated into system variables and evaluated through the lens of the broader organizational system. This approach supports discovery, strategic insight, and actionable outcomes that leaders can apply immediately.
